Kippur - ליום הכפורים

Vidoui HaGadol- ודוי הגדול

Our community has a special tradition to recite the "Long Vidoui," or Confessions, three times on Yom Kippur. The first two, recited in Arbit and Shaharit, are devoted to laws of the negative commandments, and the last one, recited in Musaf, are devoted to the positive commandments. The list of violations commited by the collective Jewish community are organized alphabetically. In many ways, this list is meant to remind us of the ideal values of how we should live from day to day.
